"Cold Cold Cold !!"
Winter weather has arrived. But this weather is not so good for skin. Cold weather with low humidity will leads to dry air and results in dry skin. Moisture from the skin get to go off from the skin. This need proper care as dry skin will cause cracking of skin and dryness. To get rid of chapping, redness, itching, and keep skin more healthy and fresh this season, try these tips 👇
- Don’t wash with hot water
Hot water makes you feel good in cold weather but when you want to wash your face or hands do not use hot water. Lukewarm water helps in maintaining some moisture from skin, but hot water will swipe off oil from the skin.
- Moisturize skin continuously
Moisturizing helps a lot in winter weather but your skin needs immediate moisturizing after wash. Keep your cream with you always , in bath area, in compact form in your bag and use liberally every time you wash.
- Choose Oil based Moisturizer
Always make sure to use natural and nourishing ingredients. Go for an oil based rather that a water based solution as it’s more likely to help your skin retain moisture in the winter
- Use Sunscreen
Winter sun can be just as damaging as summer sun, So use sunscreen to protect yourself in sunny winter day.
- Don’t skip drinking water
We drink less water in the winter because we choose hot drinks like tea or coffee, but don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside, out. A lukewarm water with lemon (vitamin C) can be very refreshing and hydrating at the same time.
- Special care at bedtime
Moisturize areas like hands, feet, elbows, and knees as these areas have thin skin and tend to lose moisture faster than other areas on the body. Deep moisturize then and wean cotton gloves and socks till morning to maintain the moisture.
- Exfoliate
Moisture can’t get in if the dead cells, Find an exfoliating mask and use it on your face and your hands, as well as gently on your lips, then follow immediately with moisture to truly see smoother difference.
- Healthy lifestyle
Make sure you’re getting enough vitamins, minerals. Vitamin C and zinc will support the healthy production of collagen and elastin. Also consume more fatty fish and flax seed to give your skin the building blocks it needs to appear supple and smooth.
- Use DIY Masks
Try Homemade hydrating masks to provide needed moisture in the winter months. Use natural moisturizing ingredients like honey, avocado, yogurt, olive and jojoba oils, almond oil, bananas, and aloe. Mix what you suits you together to create a cream or paste, and leave on skin for 10-30 minutes for lasting hydration .
